STRATEGY AT THE INTERSECTION OF ART AND TECHNOLOGY
The technological turn has undoubtedly challenged the traditional art world. Given the fundamental social, economic, cultural, and technological changes introduced by the digital age, and the recent web3 evolution, new approaches, business models, and practices within the art ecosystem must be explored.
Digitisation, however, is ultimately less about technology, but about strategy: How can the art market benefit from digital transformation? How does a business enter the digital era? How does blockchain technology in general, and non-fungible token (NFT) technology in particular, apply to one's own business? How can we adapt to shifting consumer demands? And how do you identify relevant innovations and select the best strategic options for yourselve?
As an art+tech strategist with a deep understanding of both the art business sector, and recent technological developments, I am constantly exploring and analysing the impact of technology on the art market, bridging the fields of art, business, and technology through strategy.

ABOUT ME
My name is Kerstin Gold and I live and work in Berlin. I am a passionate digital strategist, art market expert, author of the ART+TECH Report, and advisor to arttech startups and position myself at the intersection of art & technology. The professional interest in analysing the effects of technology on the established mechanisms of the art market and its potential effects on future business models and market structures have been a common thread throughout my career.
As an art+tech strategist for the art ecosystem, I advise commercial galleries, museums, foundations and art market entrepreneurs on digital transformation and business model innovation and serve as an arttech and culttech start-up advisor as well as mentor at VC-accelerator programs for early-stage ventures.
I have a rich insight into the art business sector, a keen interest in Web3, NFTs and the metaverse and I use strategy to connect the fields of art, business, and technology.
I am co-founder and author of the ART+TECH Report, which surveyed online art buying behaviour from a collectors’ perspective in 2021, examined buying patterns and collecting motivations of art NFT collectors in 2022 and is currently (2023) exploring how web3 is influencing the concept of art collecting from a buyer's and collector's perspective.
As a result of my growing interest in the future of blockchain and my firm belief in the importance of fostering diversity, I am co-leading the Berlin Chapter of Women in Blockchain Talks since January 2023, a diversity initiative highlighting female achievements in the web3 space.
Prior to my career as an independent strategy advisor, I gained +12 years of consultancy expertise in the international marketing sector and creative industry in London and Berlin - advising international brands such as adidas, PlayStation, Lufthansa and McDonald’s, leading interdisciplinary teams in London and Berlin and eventually managing an agency's branch office. I also have a strong background in business management, financial planning, digital transformation, and organisational development as a result of these experiences.
I hold a master's degree in business administration and trained as a Systemic Executive Business Coach. (certified by DVCT). I was accepted into and graduated from two full scholarship programs at the Blockchain Center - Frankfurt School of Finance and Management and graduated as DLT Talent (cohort#5, 2022) and NFT Talent (cohort#2, 2023).
Over the past few years, I've completed numerous in-depth study programs such as "From Net Art to Beeple: NFTs in Context" and "A Comprehensive Guide To Understanding NFTs" (Christie’s Education), "Digital Transformation in the Art Market" and "Art Market Data Analysis" (ArtTactic Lab), "Management in the Art Market" (Freie Universität Berlin), "Curatorial Studies" (University of the Arts, Berlin), "Augmented Reality in the Cultural Sector" (HTW Berlin), "Social Media in Art and Fashion" (Frieze Academy, London) and "History of Art" (University of Cambridge, UK). I held a teaching position at the Freie Universität Berlin for strategy, business design, and strategic marketing in the art market in 2019/2020 and served as an approved IBB Business Consultant for Creative Industries in 2020/2021.
